Classic!

Watch out for the extra measure hang on the last line of each verse.

Watch out for the one odd measure of 7? (or whatever the fuck it is) halfway through the guitar solo, on the D.  Also, after the solo the phrase only hangs on the Am instead of going on to the D as in the regular verses.

There is a modulate up a half-step at the end.  After the solo the chorus changes just go round 4 times but on the last Am it goes "AmAmAmAmAm-BbmBbmBbmBbmBbm(eb)" and back to the chorus but up a half like Ab, Cm, Bbm, Ebm and then we fade out or do a Gb, Dd/F, Eb, Ab to end it.

SIE has almost always done this song in G.  The record has it in Ab but we moved it G back in 2003? to accommodate the inexperienced and the hacks, myself included.  It also makes the F->C/E nicer on an acoustic guitar without using a capo.  That is not to say that we haven't also done it in original Ab or even D once.  Roll Eyes

(revised 1/29/10 - it's pretty close)

Verse:
G, Bm, Am, D
G, Bm, Am, D
G, Bm, Am, D
G, Bm, Am, Am, D, D

Chorus:
G,' Bm, Am, D
G, Bm, Am, D
G, Bm, Am, D
F - C/E - D, G, G

Bridge
F, F (C), Dm, G (Gb)
F, F (C), Dm, G (Gb)
F, F (C). Dm, G (Gb)
FM7, FM7 (C), Dm, G
Bb - F, F
Bb/D - C, C
C

Solo:
G, Bm, Am, D
G, Bm, Am, D (7?)
G, Bm, Am, D
G, Bm, Am-

Chorus to end (now with modulation!) :::
G,' Bm, Am, D
G, Bm, Am, D
G, Bm, Am, D
G, Bm, Am....->Bbm..... (eb ghost)
Ab, Cm, Bbm, Eb
Ab, Cm, Bbm, Eb
Ab, Cm, Bbm, Eb
Ab, Cm, Bbm, Eb

End?: Gb, Db/F, (Eb), Ab

Verse-Chorus-Verse-Chorus-Bridge-Solo (Verse with hiccup)-Chorus repeat

Verse
G                      Bm                         Am                 D

G                Bm                  Am         Am
You see I beg, stole and I borrowed
D          D

Chorus
                     G         Bm    Am      D
That's why I'm easy                  I'm easy like sunday
G         Bm        Am      D
morning                         That's why I'm
G         Bm       Am    D

Thanks Rick!  This is a fine start to what I hope will become one of the more active categories at the forum here.

My favorite "Easy Like Sunday Morning" memory hearkens back to the first golden age of SIE, when I was performing on stage at Munchaba in March of 2003.  I believe I was on stage with Jon Middleman on bass, Bopa King Carre on drums, Alan Semerdjian on guitar, and Becca Bordello on harmony(?) vocals.  I dedicated this song aloud, to the bartender, but I mistakenly thought her name was Joanne.  Her real name was Joanna, and Becca corrected me.  I was redfaced for a second, and you can enjoy it all on the SIE box set (where it was properly preserved).

Given my near total distrust of most charts I've come across online, I'm gonna look at this one (Easy Like Sunday Morning) and see if the bridge works.  Eyeballing these chords, I respectfully reserve my opinion as to their veracity.

I don't claim anything to be accurate on first posting.  I copied and pasted them from somewhere and didn't check them.  This was the first song posted and it was originally posted as an example.

In other words, I am suspect as well but as any song thread progresses we can edit the first post to update to whatever corrections and additional notes the band mt need.

Gotcha!  I didn't assume these were your chords.  Most of the stuff I come across just repeats the same mistakes.  I just worked up an arrangement of "Nights on Broadway" and nothing I saw oniine even got close to what the bridge really is.  Am I ambitious enough to post my own chart?  Hmmm.  Can't say yet as I'd actually have to WRITE IT!

Yes, the bridge chords were totally wrong.  I fixed them.

Yes, Rick.  I looked and am "playing it my head" and those chords look pretty good. Definitely better than just in the ballpark.

Been doing this song for years... Commodore key is Ab / G# (whatever).  beauty of the song is in the non linear timing on some parts Rick pointed out...those nuances make the song...nice job Rick.. I concur...if ya gonna do it.. do it like it was meant to do...

I think we decided on G the first time because we had a violin player jamming with us and that's just not nice to do Smiley

Wow, u remember that?  I haven't seen any violinists jamming with us since April 20th, 2007 at the No Limits bar in Hicksville.  I miss that experience!

Very cool, Rick.  And seeing you play violin on stage with us at Mulcahy's was a real treat!
